How much did Elon Musk “donate” to America super PAC?? Should we be worried?

Elon Musk donated to the America PAC (Texas) – a super PAC- promoted the Trump/Vance nominations across a number of states. This super PAC provided a substantial ground campaign in the seven key swing states.

But what is a super PAC?  The website Opensecrets.org defines a super PAC and also provides data on the 2024 financial activity for super PACs.  Super PACs (as of 11/14/204) gathered total amounts of $1,757,393,873 (conservative viewpoints) and $819,011,571 (liberal viewpoints), $151, 797,509 (other viewpoints), a total of $2.73 BILLION!!

So far for the 2024 election cycle The America PAC (Texas) has raised a total $130,300,000. Elon Musk has made donations that total $118, 550,000 through the SpaceX company. Only three super PACs raised a higher amount: Make America Great Again Inc. (conservative, supported Trump), WinSenatePAC (liberal), and Senate Leadership Fund (conservative).

The America PAC (Texas) employed individuals in these states at wages considerably higher than the minimum wage in all U.S. states.  Campaigners’ wages started at $30 per hour, with bonuses for performance.  The website offered $47 for each referred registered voter that signed a petition pledging support for the First and Second Amendments.

So what is the big deal??

Do we want any election where the world’s richest individual can donate amounts that are unlimited, they pay the election workers (rather than using volunteers) to promote their chosen candidate, and they pay half a day’s wages to registered voters to sign a petition?
